Super Castlevania IV was a SNES launch game. It showed what the SNES could do musically, graphically, and gameplay-wise. This game was a remake of the original Castlevania game, as you once again took control of Simon Belmont on his quest to vanquish Dracula. The graphics and sound stand the test of time, and remain some of the best for the SNES in general. New gameplay features include a whip that could go any direction, the ability to swing across crevices, and land on stairs. Mode 7 effects include a rotating chamber, and swinging chandeliers.
- Was on the cover of Nintendo Power issue 32 (January 1992)
