Tetris Attack is a puzzle game that doesn't really have a lot in common with Tetris. The key to the game is to match up different coloured blocks and try to gain combos. The blocks rise from the bottom, defying the top down nature of many puzzle games. The US and European versions utilize characters from Yoshi's Island, while the Japanese version uses cutesy anime characters.
