Secret of Evermore is Square's attempt to create an RPG with their American studio. Gameplay-wise, the battle system is almost identical to Secret of Mana, although many experts point out that they do not actually use the same game engine. The graphics are alright, but the sound is kind of muted. On the whole, the story is not all that interesting either. The review in Gamepro magazine echos my thoughts, stating it doesn't reach the heights of Square's other games.
