Pirates of Dark Water is a Final Fight clone involving characters from the title cartoon. Don't expect anything mindblowing as you beat up various enemy pirates through dreary sea-faring scenes. - Evan

--------

If you are a fan of the ill-fated 90’s television series and enjoy beat ‘em up’s, then this is the game for you! While the gameplay does not step out very far from Final Fight’s shadow, the range of difficulty and the well-rendered levels are quite redeeming. Players may choose from Ren, Tula, or Ioz as they fight Bloth and his cronies (including Mantus and regular miniboss Konk) for the thirteen treasures of Rule. Fans will be pleased as many levels were closely modeled after episodes from the series, including a shooter-style fight for the island of Pandawa. While the T.V. series was cancelled before Ren and his friends collected all the treasures, PODW devotees ought to be interested in the game’s ending. Fun to play, and a rare find to-boot. - J.D.
