NHL Stanley Cup uses the same game engine as other Scuptured Software sports games (such as NCAA Basketball). The mode 7 rotation made for a unique perspective versus other games of the time, but it pales in comparison to the NHL series. The lack of an NHLPA license also hurts the novelty of the game.
