Don't let the cutesy kid-riding-dinosaur thing fool you. Dino City is a nice looking platform game, with a downright brutal difficulty level. The first level alone makes your average Mega Man level look easy. The disappearing-reappearing platforms are a key part to this game, and they are tiny. Also, this has Super Mario Bros style "you can't go backwards in a level" thing going on. In parts, the enemies are relentless. There are lots of midway point saves, which makes it so that the levels are beatable.
