Mortal Kombat 3

This game marks the time when Williams officially takes over the game development and distribution from Acclaim. Some people claim the newly digitized graphics and new character-models made the game better. But others say that a new Run button complicated the game by many times, thus intimidating many average gamers. My personal belief, however, is that the game essentially remained the same...

Graphics: 7/10

Well when this game came out, the graphics should be touching the Super Nintendo's limits although not pushing it. The character models are cleanly presented. Female characters "approriately shakes" (guys, you know what I'm talking about, shaking!). Muscle definitions have a very "human" look instead of Capcom's "hand-drawn" style. Backgrounds lack some colors but that's only because the Super Nintendo can't handle all of Arcade's graphics.

Sound & Music: 6.5/10

Pretty standard Mortal Kombat stuff here. If you've heard one, then you've heard them all. While some songs do get your andrenaline pumping, some others just simply drone on in the background for the sake of having music. The speeches and yells are very clear. Certain smacking sound effects came across to me a bit muffled.

Gameplay/Fun Factor: 7.5/10

This game is pretty good. It handled the new "run" button just fine despite what many people claim. It certainly added strategic elements to gaming, as well as added extra possibilities for a big combo. Air juggles are always fun to do. Many new special moves, along with fatalities, friendships, among others. This game also introduces several new Ninja-bot characters as well as a new boss. The game's difficulty is pretty balanced.

Conclusion/Overall: 7/10

Not bad, not bad. This game warrants a spot in a fighting fan's library. Casual gamers might not like this game though. It's all a matter of personal taste. The combos and juggles are just so fun to do though. Fatalities never lose their appeals either.
