In the Summer 1993 CES, Atlas showed a soccer game. This was mentioned in a preview in the Club Nintendo Mexico Year 2 number 8 issue.
picto, a member of my Discord channel acquired a translation for me, with some clarifications by @_dcat_ on Twitter: Another company we saw was ATLUS, where we saw various titles already covered beforehand in our review. The newest title was a soccer game that had many options and was very fast. Turns out, it is the same game ASC promised under the name "Futbol Explosivo". We continued to investigate in order to find out what happened to the license. The game shown in this preview was released by Atlas as World Soccer '94 (known as Striker in Europe). ASC Games released Super Copa, which was a version of Tony Meola's Sidekicks Soccer, localized to Spanish and Portuguese. Was ASC Games interested in localizing Striker to the Latin American market? It is hard to know without more information. |
