Super Famicom Prototype Carts - 2009 |
 There were a variety of Super Famicom prototypes that popped up on Ebay and Yahoo Japan auctions this year. Here I highlight some of the ones I remembered to save. Thanks to Kiddo from the Unseen64 forums and byuu for translating some of the titles.

Yahoo Japan user spike_b posted the following prototypes in late November. He was reselling some prototypes that were posted in July 2008, but these ones are new.
The Japanese love their Horse Racing game. This is the third incarnation of Derby Stallion, which seems to be one of the most common SFC games out there.

Super Pinball - Behind the Mask is a pretty crappy pinball game. Obviously spike_b doesn't have much love for it either, and didn't even bother to take pictures of the back of the prototype.

Ganba League 3 is one of many super deformed baseball games for the SFC. The first one was released in North America as Extra Innings.

Shounen Ninja Sasuke appears to be a beat-em-up similar to River City Ransom.

I was shocked at the number of slot machine games there are for the SFC, let alone the presentation that seems to include a storyline. Here is Big Ichigeki! Pachi Slot Daikoryaku.

Yet another unrelated slot machine game, Pachi-Slot Land.

La Wares appears to be an RPG featuring giant robot mechs. Don't have much info beyond that, as it does not have a fan translation.

Emerald Dragon is a RPG with a more action-oriented fighting system than your typical RPG. This prototype was being sold by cheaplightning on Ebay in late November. The seller states there are differences from the final version, but does not say what they are.

3x3 Eyes - Juuma Houkan is a side view adventure game. It was on sale by ebay seller cheaplightning back in July. It was purchased by Dizrythmia.

These two Konami prototypes, Goemon 3 and Parodius were on sale on Yahoo Japan auctions by ta_suite. Sold in July.

Eien no Filerna is an RPG by Tokuma Shoten Intermdia that reminds me of Final Fantasy Mystic Quest. Based on the light novel series, Eternal Filena.

Mortal Kombat was big in the US, but probably not as much in Japan. This prototype sold for a higher price than many of the ones in this October lot, and I suspect a certain person from the US who loves Mortal Kombat and prototypes got this one.
