  • Battle tips

  • Remember that you have a ranged weapon.. Use it to attack the enemy. Monsters usually have melee attacks so they have to walk to you to hit you. Attacking from afar is safe and smart.
  • Battle position is important. If you caan move into a spot where you can only be hit from 1 other spot you will only be hit by 1 enemy at a time (unless they can range attack). This allows you to take less damage per round, and hopefully live longer.
  • Ally Tips

  • You must be level 7 or higher to get alllies
  • save before talking. Just incase they wander off you can reload the old save and try talking to someone else.
  • Use the seer's to locate allies.
  • Gamble Tips

  • Save befor you gamble. Just incase you llose
  • Gamble for fun, since nothing you can geet is really worth the expense. The Gem Armor only has 55 defense, great at start but near the end you will find much better for cheaper.
  • Magic Types

This is a list of which magic type each class can use.
    Class Magic
    Iga Ninja Ninjutsu
    Koga Ninja Ninjutsu
    Negoro Ninja Ninjutsu
    Fuma Ninja Ninjutsu
    Hermit Mysticism
    Mendicant Mysticism
    Sohei Mysticism
    Sage Mysticism
    Magician Sorcery
    Sorcerer Sorcery
    Mystic Sorcery
    Ronin no magic
    Samurai no magic
    Swordsman no magic
As you can see there are 4 magic classes each having 3 or 4 character classes that can use that magic. The different character classes each have their own strengths and weaknesses, each of which you should consider when playing. Some have more speed, some have more power, some have more energy while some have more health. If you want healing magic you would look in the Mysticism class and chose from the 4. If you needed some more attacking power with that healing power, then Sohei and Sage would be good choice, but if you didn’t need any attacking power the Mendicant or Hermit(although early on Hermit isn’t too bad) would suffice. Mystics are better then Sorcerers which are better then Magicians, generally. You will run into Magicians first then Sorcerers and eventually Mystic. The non-magic using class characters are excellent fighters. You will see a lot of Ronin which are a bit slow but more powerful then the others. Swordsman has the better overall balance, I think, so I ended up with one of them. Ninja’s are weak. Iga ninja would be easiest to ally with but don’t go out of your way. They are fastest, but weak.

    Items

There are many items in the game. It seems what they can wear depends on their magic class. Symbol - Class Ni - All Ninja equip the same stuff Wa – (Warriors) Ronin, Samurai and Swordsmen equip the same stuff. He – (Healers) Sohei, Sage, Mendicant and Hermit equip the same stuff Wz – (Wizards) Magician, Sorcerer and Mystic equip the same stuff.

    Start off

You start in the little village you have moved to, for training. Nobunaga's men arrive and you do battle. You lose. They are about to finish you off but a messenger comes and says that Akechi has rebelled against Oda Nobunaga at Hanochi Temple. Off they go. The elder heals your wounds and sends you to a nearby cave to start on the last of your training.

    Cave

    Objective: Password

Here is where you find the password that will allow you entrance into the first training location. Once you collect the password you can leave, but I wouldn’t recommend it right away. Level up if possible because once you leave there will be no more monsters here. Level-ups always refill your hp/mp so it is safe. Shouldn’t be too hard to find it, it is an easy cave. Remember to range attack so they are weak when they finally get to you. If you fight defensively with ranged attacks until they get close enough to fight melee you should be able to get by without having to use any medicines. At level 5 I am powerful enough to not get damaged at all in battles so leveling up should just be a test of patience. Since level 7 is when you get a chance for an ally, it should be your goal here.

    Other goodies: Medicine, Medicine

    Leaving the cave

A cut scene sort of, you see an image of Nobunaga who was badly injured going by. You hid because he and his army would surely have defeated you. Head to the castle Ise and talk at the Inn. See if anyone wants to join you. Or you can head to the west and stop at the town Shirahama, and ask there. I picked up Kusou here. He should be a valuable asset. You should have some money, but spend it wisely. You are still a ways away from easy money(working) and stuff at the next town is always better, and more costly... *sigh* Sometimes walking around the world you will need rest, this is when people either come to attack you or come to join you.

    Heading East to Mt Fuji

The path west is blocked, a gate forbidding your passage is in your way but that’s ok. The first training grounds are to the east. When you reach Totomi castle, head north. When you see a stone sign go east. There you will find the first training ground.

    Fire Gem

    Objective: Fire Gem

    Other Goodies: Mace, Elixir, Ninjato

This cave has fire breathing monsters, but we have 3 people so it shouldn’t be too hard :) Remember, as always that the monsters disappear when you complete the quest so you should stay as long as possible. (I thought this was the case. It turns out that later in the game the monsters didn’t always disappear.) Head north-west for stairs leading to Mace, a good weapon if you don’t have a Ninjato, or North-East if you want to find the path to the Gem. Eventually you go down stairs that give you 3 paths to go; left, down and right. Go left for a Ninjato, go down for the Fire Gem. Follow the path until you get it. Fight as long here as you feel you need to. With a hermit to heal you it should be ok for a while.

    Spell gained: Flame

    Mt. Tsukuba

When you are done with the Fire Gem and you returned it to the sage, he tells you to go to Mt Tsukaba, which is northeast. Heading directly east is the Tengu Forest. This is a bad, bad place for us now, so don’t go there - yet. When you are stronger you can try it. Sagami castle is directly south of Tengu Forest. You'll find Mt Tsukuba just directly west of Hitachi Castle or east of Kosuze castle.

    Earth Gem

    Objective: Earth Gem

Other Goodies: Steel Helm, Body Healer, Antidote, Elixir, Medicine, Light Mail, Tengu Wing

Here at Mt Tsukuba you will find the earth gem for ninja healing techniques. There are plenty of poisonous monsters here, stock up on antidotes and have a hermit around. His Purge spell will be very good to have. I found a few Antidotes from battle so don't get too many. First floor is straight forward. Second floor: Go up right for Steel Helm, left for stairs and down left for Body Healer. Third Floor is a big maze. From the stairs go right a few steps then down and take the second path to the right. This floor is also a big maze. Take the top path all the way up then left. Eventually you'll find the stairs. Go up to get the Earth Gem. Left of it you'll find 2 treasures you might like. Go right and into the stairs and down the stairs just south. You'll find 3 treasure boxes containing potions. You can go back the way you came or follow this path to the way you can go. No more treasures that i found and it only leads you back to level 3 anyway so it’s no big deal. Use up your antidotes as you won’t need them again.

    Spells gained: Repair, Purge

    Mt Haguro

Next stop Mt Haguro, north of Dewa Castle. Easy way to find it is head north, and when you get past Rikuzen you should see a small town Hiraizumi. Go west from here and you should find it. Here we learn there are 18 dungeons in Japan and only 10 of them are training grounds. This means there are 8 places to look for extra stuff. Actually, unless I am counting wrong there are only 4. The first cave doesn’t count as a training dungeon, so that leaves 7. There is Azuchi Castle which isn’t a training dungeon, there are 2 dungeons that are quest related (so I wont spoil it for you here), leaving only 4. Don’t worry, I know those 4 and will mention them when needed. We go looking for the sky gem now.

    Sky Gem

    Objective: Sky Gem

    Other Goodies: Medicine

Go in and go down. Walk around and step on the orange triangle tile. "Don't be puzzled". Walk to the left. If you see a warning "is this worth the effort" go back. It is only a Medicine, and will create a pitfall forcing you to backtrack some. Take the southern stairs and then go to the north-east stairs. You will be at the right place when you see a lot of pitfalls. When you see a pitfall right by an orange triangle tile, go down and then keep taking the stairs. Now would be a good time to get that Medicine as it will lead you to the entranceway. It also appears like antidote is needed here, but we have Purge now so its ok. Try to be about level 15 leaving here. Now it’s off for Mt. Osore, which is again east, but more north.

    Spells gained: Fog, Wind

    Yoshi Sword and Yoshi Suit

    Objective: Yoshi Suit, Yoshi Sword

Other Goodies: Elixir, Tengu Wing, Tengu Wing.

This is one of the 4 side quest dungeons in the game. There is a cave north of the Hiraizumi town, it is on the east mountain. You should follow the path north but stick to the right side, just left of the mountains. I am not sure when we are supposed to go here, I forgot to come here before and have some good items and a few levels so it might be a bit easy now. We start off with a puzzle. "Order is important". You have to step on some invisible switches to close the pitfall traps. The first one is on the north wall on the left. Walk into the little space in the wall to trigger the first trap. Take the bottom left passage that just opened and follow it to the dead end. Walk on the left red tile to trigger the next trap. This time it opens the top right trigger. Step on that to open the bottom right. Go there to open to top center. Just make sure you don’t walk all the way to the wall or you will have to step on the tile again after walking back over it(second step on it closes path, step on it again to open it again). Follow this path, long linear path. The first choice you get is easy as either path takes you to the same place. Just keep going right, the first detour south is dead end. When you get to the crossroad "Only one path is right" take the left path to open the right path at the next crossroad, and take the right path to open the left crossroad. The right path for the left crossroad is where we want to go. The center path gives us a Tengu Wing, if we can survive the 5 spike tiles. Not worth it. Follow this newly opened path to the end where we shall find some stairs. Down these we see 3 paths and more stairs down. Left path is a dead end. Top path is a trap that leads to a basement which has you coming up those stairs. Take the right path and follow it. At the top go right again, trigger the trap and go down. Follow this to the stairs and a battle with a boss Hitachibo. Take the 3 treasures and use the Tengu Wing to get out.

    Working

Now that you are 15 you can work. Talk to the guy at castles offering jobs. Best chance is at the start of the month. Right now spy work and sabotage is all you should do. More spying since it costs less energy, has a higher chance of success and makes the same money as sabotage. Good money. Based on char level so higher level makes more. Spying at level 15 is 525 bucks so that is definitely worth trying. You can get more then one job a month, just at different castles. Doing work will get you friendly with the castle and eventually you can suggest work to them. Asking them to damage or go to war with neighboring castles. Its safe work and good money so don't pass it up. Good way to get the nice items :) Also, after doing all the jobs you can in a month it is a good idea to talk with people in the Inns and Tea houses while waiting for the new month. It spends a day each time, builds up friendship and they might be worth having. Some FAQ or maybe even the instructions will tell you that you can only do the same job for 1 castle at a time, meaning you can’t have 2 castles hiring you to spy on the same castle, this is false. I have done it a few times and got paid by both castles. I have even had 2 castles pay me to spy on each other, very funny.

    Mt Osore

After you have made some money, gotten some items and want to continue questing head north. North of Mutsu castle you will find Mt Osore. Here they want you to get the Magic Torch and advise not going alone. If we were weird/masochistic and wanted to solo this far then why heed that advice now... but my advice is to get some tough guys/healer and some good items. Masamune sword is a nice investment for Ninja’s and Muramasa is excellent for Swordsmen and Samurai. :)

    Magic Torch

    Objective: Magic Torch

    Other goodies: Scarab

They say follow the good path, lets try that. Path of Gaki is the greedy way. The path of Shura is the hardest way. So we said good path? Then ignore the treasure, it’s a trap. Next you see some stairs to the right. Don’t take them, go down instead. Don’t take the first portal, take the second one. Take the scarab from the treasure then go back into the portal and then take the first portal you just skipped. Follow the path, and go down the stairs. Now try to go up, which will lead you to the right. Take the stairs. Follow the path and when you get to the crossroads go down. Follow the path where it leads you. Maybe level up a bit more down here, the exp is great. The path of Shura has a healing pad on it, use it to heal up, fight more, heal, fight... I finally left at level 20. The flying heads like to drop Scarabs, so you should have enough for your entire party when you leave.

    Spell learnt: Torch

    Tengu Forest

Goodies: Tengu Fan, Mandala, Energy pill, Health food, Tengu Wing.

Lets try this now, but only if you have good items. Masamunes, scarabs, good armor... otherwise work and make some money to buy that stuff. If you have any problems in here get out and come back later, or try to level up in here if possible. The boss will be tough. A good test is to go all the way to the left then up. This is where you will find 3 rather useless items but if you can’t get that far then its too tough, if you can then maybe you can survive.

At the first crossroads by the entrance go up, then left all the way. Then up, up and follow that path to the stairs. Follow the “infinite” corridor and exit. Go up, way up. Follow this path all the way. You shall find the "House of Sagamimusashibo the Great Tengu. No peddlers or salesmen". If you are not ready, or wish to leave the monsters here for more exp then turn back now.

Fighting Samamibo: Concentrate on Sagamibo. He can revive the Small Tengu, which makes killing them off waste of time. Cure and use guard often. Ranged attacks are starting to become useless, hopefully you didn’t buy any pistols. Maybe my Ninja’s low strength was starting to show. He will use Heal 3 when his energy is low but keep on him and he will die. Pick up the Mandala and Tengu fan. Mandala is better then Scarab so maybe this was the right order to do this.

    Oshima Island

This is where you are sent next. Take the port south of Sagami. Here you will find the Magic Rock.

    Magic Rock

    Objective: Magic Rock

Other Goodies: Metal hat, Energy Pill, Idol

The first floor is fairly straight forward. Make your way to the south-east corner for the stairs down. Second floor is tricky. There are a lot of teleporting tiles. Go Left, then left again then right. Go far right to get teleported back to the stairs to go back, take the up path to continue. Go down. Take the stairs to find an Idol. Its worse then Scarab so don't worry if you missed it but it can be used to cast heal2 so maybe you will want it. Go back up and go south. Avoid the pitfalls. The stairs will be where you come back from falling. You have 2 choices here, left or right. Going right will lead you to a Metal Hat and an Energy Pill. If you have no need for these go left. Follow the path up to the right. You will have the choice of top path or bottom path, take the bottom. There should be 2 sets of stairs in the screen. The one you want is the bottom one. Follow that to magic rock.

    Spells learnt: Blaze, Geyser.

    War

Right now is a good time for war. If you want to make some money suggest war with a very friendly castle, and attack. Meeting the Daimyo before the 15th to set it up and waiting at the castle on the 30th. With Blaze you can attack in battle from a few steps away, weakening the enemy for the generals to walk in and attack in melee combat.

    Open Gates

The gates north of Kai/West of Kosuke are open, allowing you to pass through.

    Sado Goldmine

Other Goodies: Ninja Cure, Energy Pill

This is the second optional side quest in the game. It is west of Rikuzen. Take the boat to the town Sado, get the key from there and enter the mine to fight a boss to save the gold for the miners. When you get in the cave you have to use the key on the door. Follow that path up, take the first left, then down, then left. Stairs are there. Down the stairs go right all the way and take the stairs just south of you. Follow that path "Thieves will be punished". Go to the northwest corner and take those stairs down. Follow that path to more stairs. Go south and follow that path to the boss. This boss is hard. 2 Frost Beasts are bad enough but he has strong magic, Gale to be more specific. It hits everyone for 40-50 which is a lot, and coupled with low energy means danger. Try to have your healer at close to max energy. Use the Ninja repair/purge instead, always outside of battle. Inside of battle use the healers Heal spells. They are more powerful, always work and you wont waste turns attacking since healer wont do any damage anyways. Start off with healer using Yoshi Sword to speed everyone up. Use Guard to help defense, heal 2 when needed. Generally anyone near 50 should be healed. Concentrate on the boss, save the Frost Beasts for last. Don’t worry if you are nearly dead when it’s over, the miners will come and kick you out and send you to town. Quick stop there, pick up your reward (3000) and head on out.

    Mt Onatake

Ask for directions at Kai. He warns of Tengu, maybe now is when we should have fought them? Oh well... try it now if you want. At Kai a person tells us to go through the gates and to the west is the Mt Ontake. Buying some equipment at Kai would be wise. Best items in this area, Gold Armor is tops for the ninja. Sadly they cannot equip Muramasa. Oh well, Masamune is plenty good and adds defense. Heading to Mt Ontake: Just go north out of Kai through the gates then to the west. Follow the path south and you will find the training zone. Here is where you will have to find the Diary of Oda Nobunaga.

    Rant on Ally Upgrading

If I had a Swordsman instead of a second Ninja then perhaps I could equip him with Muramasa. I'm too lazy to get a new ally and I'm too attached to who I have already. Although, since Hermit is weak in attacking a Mendicant wont be too hard to change to. They have more healing power, more energy and still crappy attack. A sage will be the final choice, as they have some attack power AND healing powers superior to that of Hermits. A swordsman will be better then the other ninja. As a matter of fact, all the ninja suck. Low power means low damage means they are not good. Their magic powers are weak and if you really want a magic attack get a magician or sorcerer. Actually, I did track down Sato Denki and traded Otowana for Sato. Good deal I think. Sato has much more power with a tiny bit less health. He is half as fast but much more damage and defense. I also just traded my hermit friend for Tenkai the mendicant. Should be interesting to see how this goes. I still plan on getting a Sage instead of this Mendicant but that will happen later. I have not seen any sages yet.

    Oda's Diary

    Objective: Oda's Diary

Other goodies: Mandala, Dragon Hat, Health Food, Body Healer.

The first floor is simple, any stairs will go down it seems. The door says the key is deep in the cave. Down we go. Second floor is like the first only opposite. This time go down to the south passage. It’s like the one we came in from, only this leads to a spiral cave. Take the first teleporting tile and walk back to where you came from. There is now a treasure. Walk as far forward as you can without hitting another teleporting tile. You will eventually come to a point where you must, so walk over it and continue forward. Then you find some stairs. Now search this next floor and get the Dragon Hat. Good helmet. Now go all the way to the top left corner of the room, take the first lane to the right and go down. Jump on the teleporter and go down the stairs. If you got the wrong one try again, you just bounce around the room in there. Now you get a big room. Move a few steps to the left then go up, you should see the stairs down. Now you get 4 ways to go, 4 teleporting tiles. Left is nothing, down is Idol, right is..... Oda? Almost, this is only a weak guardian spirit of Oda. Wow, the first boss fight for any quest item. Grab the key, run back up to the first floor and grab the Diary.

    Spells learned: Burn

    More Gates Open

South of Mino the gates are open. This is just a short cut for getting from the beginning area to Mino

    Mt. Ochi

From here we go to Mt Ochi, west of here. Ask for directions in Echizen. In Echizen they say the dungeon is east. So at least we know it’s between the 2... Hunting we go, or is that spelunking? Just go north out of town 2 steps then east. Follow that path and you shall find the training grounds. Be sure to by your healer a Fire Staff. Use it in battle, it casts Fiero, so now you can do some damage with him. At the training grounds they want you to find the Cloud Stone.

    Cloud Stone

    Objective: Cloud Stone

Other Goodies: Ninja Cure, Bomb, Energy-Up,

First floor: There are a lot of stairs going up. Take the northwest stairs. Now follow that path and take the first stairs you see. Go south and take those stairs, then go north and take those. Go south and take those stairs. Go west then north. Take the stairs then go south. Left or right, follow it and there you are. Great EXP here too, so level-up a bit, level 30 maybe? Next stop Shikoku island. Far to the southwest we will train at Mt. Ken.

    Magic Learned: Storm, Quake.

    Rei

She comes out of nowhere, begging to join up. I'd say no because she sucks. I like my current crew. She is weak, weak and weak. No way :( I have no idea if having her will change the story later on, or if doing the side quests change the story or not.

    Another Gate Opens

The gates south of Echizen opened up. Good, we have to go that way.

    Iron Ore

    Objective: Iron Ore

Other Goodies: Energy Pill, Medicine, Elixir, Ninja Cure

I have never seen this cave before, so this is new. You find Iron Ore here for the stores. Take it to the blacksmith in Bitchu and he will make you the Karamono sword. Its location is in the cave north of Bitchu and south of Izumo. Once inside, take the first stairs down you see. Now go down as far as possible until you see stairs going up, take those. Now you are in a room with 3 stairs going down. Take the bottom set. This brings you into a little room with some stairs, take those. Now you are in a bigger room with some more stairs, take those. Now you are in a room with stairs going up, stairs going down and the stairs you came in on. Find the stairs going down. Now you are in a bigger room, go to the right a little bit and take the stairs that are on the side of a pit. You will go into a room with only one path. Keep taking the only other set of stairs until you get into a room with 1 stairs going up and 1 stairs going down. Take the stairs down. After this there is only 1 path, take the stairs down, then go up and collect the ore. Take the ore to Sobei the swordsmith in Bitchu to get a sword.

    Mt. Ken

We get instructions in Harima to take a boat to Shikoku and get more directions at Tosa. Find the boat southwest of Harima. Once on the Island go south to Iyo, then south and just past the mountains go east until you see Tosa. From there go east again and up into the mountain path. The elder tells you to get the Power Book. Away we go.

    Power Book

    Objective: Power Book

Other Goodies: Energy-Up, Lion Tail, Ninja Cure.

Go down all the way, take the turn to the left then go up and then take the first left. You should see the stairs there. Now go up all the way, go right and follow that to the crossroads. Top path goes no where, right path goes to first floor, so go down, follow the path and take the stairs. Next floor go all the way up and take the right path. When you get to the fork in the road keep going right. You will eventually get to another fork in the road where you will go all the way left and down the stairs. Follow the path onto the teleporter. This next room has doors and traps that open up when you get to forks. The easiest way to tell you how to do this is walk all the way to the right, then go down, go left when your path gets block and go down, keep doing this til you get to the stairs. They won’t take you anywhere so go back up the stairs, and then go right, down, right down... until you get to the stairs. Take these to the Power Book. Go straight up to get the book. Go left to get some treasures you might have been teased with earlier. Take the stairs to the right to get back to the top. Walk into the door to open it. Now that wasn’t so hard. :) The elder sends us to Mt. Aso on Kyushu island. Go all the way to the west on the main island to get there.

    Spells Learned: Tiger, Super

    Kusanagi Sword

    Objective: Kusanagi Sword

    Other Goodies: Lion Tail,

At the western most part of the main island is a town Yamaguchi. Just west of it is the port to Bungo. A bit north is a dungeon with a special sword inside. This is a very strong sword for our Swordsman. Kusanagi Sword they call it. It was used to slay a dragon, and became one of the three sacred treasures of the emperor. Genji and Keike fought over it and Genji struck down Heike and the sword fell into the sea. Buy a Power Rod as soon as you can, you can use it to heal in battle by 50~ which is more then heal 1, less then heal 2 and free :) I also recommend buying new gear on the new island first. Gold Suit has been worn so long it’s not even funny. There is much better gear on the new island, especially in Satsuma. In the dungeon go south, take a left at the first fork in the road and go down the stairs. Go right then take the first stairway path up. Then take the right path. Keep going right until you see the stairs. Follow this path until you get to the boss. It is a very difficult battle. Heal always.

    Mt. Aso

On the new island, after you get to all the castles, upgrade your stuff at Satsuma. They have the best stuff, so try to gear up. Defense is good. I always like to buy the best available and only use the lesser stuff if a character cannot use the best. Money is easy to make, just do some jobs. If you have Wings (Magic) you can teleport to places to spy really fast. Go to Mikawa and ask there, then run to Sagami and Totomi (wings takes a day, you can check those both in under a day). To find Mt. Aso go to Hizen castle then go east. You can't miss it. Here you learn about Momochi, the legendary Iga Ninja (whats with all these Iga Ninja..... wasn’t I supposed to be the last?). I prefer my Swordsman and Sage, but if you want the Iga Ninja then let me change your mind. The Sage does more damage then Momochi will, and Momochi doesn’t have the healing powers of a sage. Here we are told to fetch the Dragon Book. I wonder what our reward will be...

    Dragon Book

    Objective: Dragon Book

    Other Goodies: Health Rock, Bracelet

This first floor is wide, but straight forward, go down the stairs. Go south and take those stairs. Follow this where it leads you. Eventually you come to an area where stepping on a tile will trigger some pitfalls in front of you, avoid those traps. Follow the long path and there you are. On the way back make sure you fall down the trap and get the Health Rock and Bracelet. When getting back to the Elder, he tells you the training is complete, gives you the Dragon technique (for war battles) and tells you it is time to take on Oda Nobunaga. He instructs you to go seek the elder at Mt. Hiei dungeon. He gives you the gate key to enter a dungeon to reach him from the west, deep in the heart of Oda country. Momochi comes up and asks to join you, I told him no and he goes home to Settsu.

    Spells learned: Dragon

    Mt. Hiei Dungeon

Other Goodies: Kirin Bone, Sceptre, Restorer, Superblade, Magic Armor, Kirin Bone.

Make your way to Yamashiro and rest at the inn, save, etc. Exit the town and go east. There is the cave you need to go now. Open the door and go up, left/right, up, stairs. Take the right path and keep going right and following that path until you find stairs. Now take the right path again, follow that until the fork and then go up, you should find stairs. Now taking the right most lane go down almost all the way. Take the second to last left, follow that til the fork, take the bottom road and down the stairs. On this pink floor take the right most path/stairs. Follow that and step on the healing tile. Go up and take the stairs down. Take the teleporting tiles to get some items. After getting the Superblade go back to the healing tile and heal up. If you have taken everything go up the stairs. Follow this path until you get to stairs taking you to a big room with a lot of paths. In this room you want to go south. Left or right side it won’t matter, you will see the stairs you need. Now go to the top of the next room. Left or right doesn’t matter again but when going into the red floor room you need the left side. Get ready for a boss fight. A hard battle, but a trick would be to use spells like guard and speed (Yoshi Sword). The boss Ashura will use a psychic energy attack that will nullify those effects, which means she isn’t beating you over the head causing over 60 damage. Healing is always good to use. Go up and get the Magic Armor and Kirin Bone.

    Mt Hiei

Speaking to the elder he reveals Nobunaga emerged with superhuman strength and abilities after the incident at Hannoji Temple. He is interrupted by Kidomaru, servant of Nobunaga. No, this isn’t a battle, he tells you to go see Nobunaga at Mino Dungeon, just north of Mino. Elder thinks it is a trap but you go anyways.

    Mino Dungeon

(The first time I played through here I fought a Sorcerer that Oda had hired from Europe. The Sorcerer was going to overthrow Oda but we stopped him. This time there is no sorcerer, instead we have Oda himself. I don’t know what triggers this change in story) The first floor is a maze but make your way to the top left corner. All the way up left. Go down those stairs. Take the right path and follow it. Here I came into a boss battle with Oda Nobunaga. This is very hard. Try to fight him like Ashura, only be stronger. He has a lot more health. After defeating him he leaves to his castle Azuchi in Omi province. The elder at Mt Hiei tells you that you cannot get into Omi Province without taking one of its neighboring provinces. You must assist an enemy of Oda in taking over Echizen, Mino, Yamashiro or Ise. Until now it was impossible to go to war with them, now you can.

    Conquering the Land

The easiest/quickest way of doing this would be from Mikawa. It borders Mino and probably hasn’t been taken. If you did some work for them as I suggested earlier, they will have a very high friendship rating. Just convince them to attack Mino. You may have to ask him a few times but eventually they will if you help them fight.

    Leaving for the Front

This is my basic strategy for all of these types of battles. It works for me. The commander says to concentrate on their commander. I say phooey. I’ll just get close enough to blaze them and then box them in and blaze some more. Blaze hits 3 squares away so try to get as many in as possible. Energy runs out, especially if you use the other skills.

    Azuchi Castle

Assuming you were successful in capturing a province you will be able to enter Omi and Azuchi province. This is the last dungeon, where you will fight a couple of bosses before Oda himself. Take a left, go down some and you should see some stairs to you left(or right depending on how far left you went the first time). Go up them. Now go all the way down to the edge and then go right. Boss battle.

    Kasumimaru

He can use burn, so that hits all usually. Try to go super then attack. Healing when needed. Once he is gone he is gone for good, so go out and heal if you need.

    Azuchi Castle 2

Go up the stairs to the next level. Now go to the south west corner of the floor and go up those stairs. Now follow the path to Kidomaru.

    Kidomaru

He brings along "A little friend of Mine" Mugenbo. Much harder, I think they can dispel your Super so don’t try it too much. Attack them like usual, nothing unusual to watch out for. They try to sleep you but not much you can do about that.

    Treasury

Take the right path after Kidomaru and pick up Kirin Bone, Superblade and restorer. Now go back to the center path, go up and take the stairs. On this floor go to the bottom middle, take the stairs up and prepare for the next battle. Luckily this guy heals you up first.

    Top Bodyguard

He used a sleep bomb on me, burn on me, killed my sage and then I woke up. Ouch. He can dispel my Super with his psychic energy. He is very tough indeed. The second time I fought him he didn’t sleep me, he ran right between my 3 guys so I didn’t have to move and could all gang up on him, which I did. Now that you beat him he declares he has failed his job, life has no meaning and tells us where Oda is and wishes us well before he disappears.

    Oda

Walk up the stairs to the next floor. On this floor go to the south west corner and take those stairs. Follow the path to Oda. He fights with Mori Ranmaru. Oda can release Psychic energy and summon lightning to attack all. Mori can heal. Focus on Mori first. You don’t need him healing Oda up.

    Ending

When you defeat Oda he tells his story then the ending story comes, you see some pictures and the end.

Congrats. This was a hard game in the end :)
