Evan G prototype2/1-titlescreen-final.png This is a prototype of Super Mario Kart in a very unusual shell. snes_central@yahoo.ca November 3, 2017 Al from I CAN'T TONIGHT. I'M GOING ONLINE!, who took these pictures and analyzed the prototype. 1|This prototype originally belonged to someone who worked at the Spanish video game magazine, Hobby Consolas. The prototype was recently sold to Al from the Youtube channel, I CAN'T TONIGHT. I'M GOING ONLINE!, who has a really nice overview of this prototype and the history of Super Mario Kart. This prototype is not dumped yet, but as you can see in the video, it is likely the same as the final US release. 1|
1|This prototype is interesting in that it came in an unusual horizontal shell, which is seen in other unusual carts like the Donkey Kong Country Competition Cart prototype, the Campus Challenge cart and the Powerfest 1994 cart. The PCB itself is not really that unusual, and appears to be the same as other Super Mario Kart prototypes. 14|prototype3/shell_top.jpg|Top of the shell, with text that indicates this is likely the final US version of the game.| 14|prototype3/shell_front.jpg|Front, showing unused ports| 14|prototype3/shell_side.jpg|Side of the shell| 14|prototype3/shell_bottom.jpg|Bottom, showing how this would sit on top of the SNES console| 14|prototype3/pcb_front.jpg|Front of the PCB| 14|prototype3/pcb_back.jpg|Back of the PCB, a little bit dusty.|
